2021 CDL Stage 5 Expectations

We are at the very end of the 2021 CDL regular season and the Championship Stage team pool is almost certain. The fifth stage will make it official and it will be hard to see other teams make a surprise rather than those which are already in the first eight spots. Nevertheless, all the teams will try their best in the last stage of this year’s Call of Duty League regular season.

In Stage 5, Seattle, New York and Minnesota will welcome other participants in their respective home series. The New York Subliners have already guaranteed themselves a spot in the Championship Stage by collecting 310 points so far. The Minnesota ROKKR is almost in with 200 points, and with a decent performance, its spot is also almost guaranteed. On the other hand, the Seattle Surge is sitting in the last spot of the standings with only 80 points, seven wins and 20 losses.

Group A

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • London Royal Ravens
  • Los Angeles Thieves
  • New York Subliners
  • OpTic Chicago
  • Paris Legion

Group B

  • Dallas Empire
  • Florida Mutineers
  • Los Angeles Guerillas
  • Minnesota ROKKR
  • Seattle Surge
  • Toronto Ultra

Stage 5’s Group A looks scary considering the Atlanta FaZe, New York Subliners and OpTic Chicago’s prior performances. Group B is a little more even, but still, the Dallas Empire and Toronto Ultra are two of the strongest teams in the league right now.

As seen in the standings above, the Los Angeles Guerillas are the closest team to compete in the Championship Stage out of the last four teams; however, it will be hard for them to complete their playoff run as a team can only get 125 points even if it wins both the group stage and major.

Personally, I think the standings will not change and Atlanta FaZe will be the champion once again in the fifth stage. FaZe’s Stage 4 performance was outstanding just like its general season performance. Dallas Empire may pull out a surprise to strengthen its claim for the second spot in the standings.
