After an already shaky year, B8 acquired a new roster under the aegis of Dota 2 veteran Danil “Dendi” Ishutin. B8’s most recent acquisition of Brazilin talent was on Jan. 3, 2021. The team qualified for the lower division of the Dota Pro Circuit CIS qualifiers and were only one series shy of being in the upper division of the DPC. Days before the season’s start, B8 is once again adrift without a player.
B8 announced Enis “5up” Elfki’s departure on its Twitter.
Just last week, Dendi Tweeted that he had contracted COVID-19. After Dendi’s situation and 5up’s unexpected and untimely departure, the team is in a sticky situation. With the DPC Season 1 starting on Jan. 18, it’s unlikely there are any free agents available. Even if B8 manages to get a stand-in or signing, it barely has time to reorient its team chemistry.
While there is speculation that 5up’s reason for leaving is a pending surgery, there is no concrete evidence as to why he departed. As such this puts him in a sticky situation, as he is a free agent at a time when no teams are looking for a player, stand-in or permanent. His chances of playing through the new DPC are slim.
After multiple unsuccessful iterations since its formation in early 2020, B8 had stabilized a little since acquiring Leonardo “RdO” Fernandes, Diego “Sexyfat” Santamaria and Heitor “Duster” Pereira, the former players of Midas Club. To be hit with another bout of uncertainty, it’s unfortunate that B8 has to deal with so many things out of its control.
Season 1 of the DPC is gonna be a tough nut to crack for Dendi’s B8, but the Dota veteran is hardly known to be the one to back off when the going gets tough.
Current B8 Dota 2 roster:
Danil “Dendi” Ishutin
Leonardo “RdO” Fernandes
Diego “Sexyfat” Santamaria
Heitor “Duster” Pereira
