Open qualifier of Valorant Champions Tour Stage 1: Challengers 2 has ended in North America, and the teams which will participate in Challengers 2’s main event became clear. Eight teams are going to compete with each other to obtain a spot in VCT: Masters 1 between Feb. 18-21.
The first four teams to qualify for Challengers 2 main event were determined in Challengers 1 last week. Rosters had to move all the way up among 256 teams to fill the other four spots in Challengers 2. All contenders to Challengers 2 are:
- Luminosity Gaming
- 100 Thieves
- FaZe Clan
- Gen.G Esports
- Team Envy
A few of the prominent teams in North America couldn’t make it to the main event. While TSM, Renegades and Andbox have failed in the quarterfinal of the open qualifier, Cloud9 Blue, Dignitas and T1 got eliminated in the previous rounds. Since there is one more Challengers to qualify for Masters 1, they have one more chance in Challengers 3.
Despite missing out some strong names in the bracket, VCT Stage 1: Challengers 2 promises so much for the fans. Thanks to having a double-elimination system, the main event will provide 14 matchups in three days. All series in the tournament will be played as best-of-threes, excluding the grand final which will be a best-of-five.
The quarterfinals matchups have also been determined:
- Sentinels – FaZe Clan
- XSET – Team Envy
- Immortals – Gen.G Esports
- Luminosity Gaming – 100 Thieves
The Challengers 2’s main event will start on Feb. 18, and all games will be streamed on Twitch.
