All the “Little Announcements” from Today’s Nintendo Direct

Sure, sure, everyone’s going to be talking about the major announcements from today’s direct: Skyward Sword, Splatoon 3, No More Heroes 3. But what about the little guys? Here’s a shoutout and a little log line for all of them.

Little Announcements
I’m buying the crap outta this game. Courtesy of Annapurna.

Like Majora’s Mask, but in space. And with the sun instead of the moon.

Beloved Japanese detective series gets translated into English for the first time, while also being remastered.

Samurai Warriors 5 (Koei Tecmo) – Summer 2021

Classic RPG remastered to look super pretty, with new arrangements of the score (which can be swapped out for the old score) and a new minigame.

Monster Hunter Rise (Capcom) – March 26
We already knew about this, but this new trailer was epic as hell.

Mario Golf: Super Rush (Nintendo) – June 25
Borders on a major announcement, features a new mode called “speed golf” where you race madly through the course.

Tales from the Borderlands (2K) – March 25
Episodic installation of beloved Borderlands series returns to storefronts for the first time in a long while.

Capcom Arcade Stadium – Literally Today!
Collection of classic Capcom arcade games that’s free to download, but also only comes with one free game (1943).

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse (Aspyr) – March 16
Wacky Xbox game from 2005 ported for Switch and Playstation, huzzah!

Neon White (Annapurna) – winter 2021
Brand new release featuring something about fighting demons in heaven and maybe cultivating relationships with them – whatever just happened, I’m absolutely in.

DC Super Hero Girls Teen Power (Nintendo) – June 24
Nintendo-made game finally ponders the question: what was Wonder Woman like in high school?

Plants Vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition (EA)  – March 19
It used to be that Switch owners were alone in being unable to shoot bizarre zombies with heroic fauna in a first-person fashion, and this has now been rectified.

Miitopia (Nintendo) – May 21
The trailer called it a “lighthearted romp,” and I feel there may not be many better phrases to describe this announcement, except maybe “can has horse.”

Star Wars Hunters (Lucasfilm Games) – 2021… sometime
Free-to-play competitive Star Wars game – sure, why not?

World’s End Club (Too Kyo Games) – May 28
Danganronpa-creators craft an alluring, mysterious world consisting of an underwater theme park and an abandoned Tokyo for you to navigate with ill-fated teens.

Hades (physical release) (Supergiant Games) – March 19
One of the best games for the Switch gets a physical release, complete with a download code for the score and a sweet character compendium booklet.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection (Koei Tecmo) – June 10
All three Ninja Gaiden games and all their DLCs in one very convenient package for lovers of ninja badassery.

SaGa Frontier Remastered (Square Enix) – Summer 2021
The mechanics looked so intriguing that I forgot to take notes – but that’s an endorsement.

Apex Legends – March 9
Another free-to-play first-person shooter makes its way over!
