With the end of 2020, companies were revealing the best-selling games of their platforms every single day, and the last one to join the party was Amazon. The world’s largest shopping service revealed its top ten best-selling games in the United States last year.
If I had to express the list in one thought, it would be, “The domination of Nintendo.” The Japan-based company is owner of the seven out of ten titles in the list, and this shows the success of the Switch’s games during COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s the full list:
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Retail)
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Digital)
- Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4)
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
- The Last of Us Part 2
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
I don’t think it would be wrong if I call Animal Crossing: New Horizons the savior of the pandemic. The series’ latest title was released at such an important date when everyone was locked in their homes trying to isolate, and this game helped many people protect their mental health. Providing the social needs of humanity in the crucial period, Animal Crossing: New Horizons also simulates life’s features at their best. Thank you Nintendo for bringing this masterpiece into our lives.
The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was a mess, especially for console owners. I don’t think Amazon considered refunds while arranging this list; because when you look at fans’ reactions, you see that the game shouldn’t be here. However, the good thing is the developers try their best to fix the game, and they have already started to release new patches.
Even though other games have their own platforms to be purchased, it’s still impressive that Nintendo games dominated the best-selling games list for one of the biggest services in the world. There is no doubt that nailing seven titles makes Nintendo the star of 2020.
