Plenty of news has come out recently regarding any and all things related to Nintendo from the Skyward Sword reboot to an upcoming documentary series. But lost in the barrage of announcements was the promise of a new manga centered around a fan-favorite simulator series. And it comes courtesy of the ever-active Viz Media.
The premier American manga publisher plans to bring the Animal Crossing: New Horizons manga titled “Deserted Island Diary” stateside with full English translation. The first entry – with more to come later on – is scheduled to drop on September 14. Deserted Island Diary will feature the welcome return of a few familiar faces to check in on the inhabitants surviving on – you guessed it – a deserted island.
To date, the manga is only available to fans in Japan. In fact, our friends across the pond have had the pleasure of having the manga since February of last year after debuting in the February 2020 issue of Ciao magazine. But hardcore enthusiasts of the lovable villagers needn’t feel left behind. For those of you that are stans of the games, you can take a dive into manga adaptations of previous games including New Leaf and Wild World.
Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Horizons just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and subsequent stay-at-home orders began. And the game was a massive success from the get-go. It offered people peace of mind and a sense of togetherness when the world at a standstill. To this day, the adorable online community grows, allowing people to find kinship across the globe.
