Biggest video game disappointments of 2020 (Besides Cyberpunk 2077)

Although Cyberpunk 2077 was for sure a large disappointment to fans, there were other games this year that just did not quite hit the mark. Let me list them out for you.

XIII

This was a remake of a famous shooter game that came out all the way back in 2003. Fans were upset that even after multiple delays, the game felt rushed and not as good as the previous game, which came out literally 17 years ago. The main complaint was that the new game did not bring anything new to the table and is pretty much the same as the original but worse. The original game outsold the remake in its first week. I have never played this game and after reading the amount of hatred this remake got form fans of the original, I have no plans to.

Madden NFL 21

No one ever thinks these games that are thrust out to the public every year will be good, but they at least hope them to be somewhat playable. This year, the famous NFL series was extra unpolished with glitches and bugs rendering the game unplayable when it first came out. By now, they have released updates making the game a little better, but it was a slap in the face to longtime fans of the series who look forward to getting the game every year.

Call of Duty: Cold War

When people are more excited about still getting updates to Warzone then they are for the new COD, you know you have a problem. Cold War is not necessarily a bad game, it just never hit the stride that the previous game in the series did. On top of this, Zombies mode was really hyped up, but it did not get received well by fans whatsoever. This might be a game that gets forgotten five years from now.

WarCraft 3: Reforged

Blizzard tried to win fans over with a remake of one of its classic games. The result was a failure as the game was a poor remaster with a ton of bugs and glitches. This is a sad one on this last as it has so much potential to be a game that fans could have really liked. This seems to be a major theme on this list. Companies know they have a game that will peak players interest, but they do not put the time and effort in to make it a quality game. Such a shame.

Surgeon Simulator 2

This game was also a huge bummer as the first game in this series became a cult classic to fans. This happens sometimes with games; they try too hard to be like the original and in the end just end up with a game that is super similar to the first but worse. It is not necessarily worse than the original, it just added nothing to the series which made fans feel as though it was just a cash grab.
