Early morning on Tuesday, January 12th, Nintendo dropped a new trailer for Super Mario World 3D + Bowser’s Fury.

The trailer brought us through the enhanced presentation and gameplay for the upcoming Nintendo Switch release, showing us the amplified experience with its new additional content. Most notably, it looks like Bowser Jr. has gone from foe to friend as he is shown battling alongside Mario and aiding him with his magic paintbrush. It is currently unknown if Bowser Jr. will be playable in multiplayer mode.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the trailer, however, was the debut of an enormous, ink-covered Bowser, with flames set at the ready. Upon his eruption, the environment notably becomes caught up in a bad atmosphere, with stormy weather, raining fire, and what looks like shadowy cat enemies that transitioned from docile to aggressive, perhaps suggesting the presence of this bestial Bowser influences creatures as well.

This monstrous Bowser, however, is not the only one with a crazy growth spurt. The enhanced port features a larger rendition of a cat-like super bell, which transforms Mario into a glowing, colossal Cat Mario, resembling that of a lion.

Complete with a metal music backdrop and the fitting stage of thunderous skies, Mario and Bowser will face off in an epic, gigantamax style.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury are slated to release on the Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021. The game is currently available for preorder
