If people thought the 2020 offseason couldn’t get any more crazy, they’d be wrong: G2 Esports has officially signed legendary European AD Carry Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.
Rekkles shocked the world on Tuesday with an announcement that he would not be resigning with Fnatic after being the helm of the organization for nearly his entire career.
In a statement on Tuesday, Fnatic wrote, “Our time with Martin has been long and successful, we could not be more proud of what he has achieved in the Black and Orange.”
With Fnatic, Rekkles has won multiple EU LCS and LEC titles, multiple MVPs and All-Pro First AD Carries, multiple Quarter Final appearances at Worlds and appeared in the 2018 World Championship Finals versus Invictus Gaming.
G2 Esports announced their acquisition of Rekkles in a video on Twitter. The deal comes as former AD Carry/Mid Laner and star player Luka “Perkz” Perković announced his leave from G2. It is unsure at this time where Perkz is going at this time.
Rekkles will be reuniting with his former Fnatic teammate Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther and cementing a new era in G2 Esports.
Fnatic has yet to announce their heavily-anticipated finalized roster, so for now, we’ll just have to wait and see who will be replacing the Swedish Superstar.
