Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season One release date pushed back

Even with Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War (BOCW) mired in various glitches, bugs and game-breaking issues, Treyarch and Activision will push through and release Season One, albeit six days later than usual.

The newest entry in the Call of Duty Black Ops series, BOCW has been fraught with problems since launch. Players have seen missing textures, game-breaking bugs, and some have even reported of the game bricking their consoles. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that BOCW has many issues to work on. That said, Treyarch and Activision are hoping that Season One of BOCW can help bring players back and forget about those issues for a bit.

In a blog post released on December 4, Treyarch and Activision outlined what will happen in the next few weeks prior to Season One’s launch.

As part of BOCW’s integration with Warzone, there will be a new Warzone map and mode and 30 BOCW weapons – along with blueprints – available on launch. There will also be a new experience for the Gulag. Additionally, for BOCW specifically, there will be new multiplayer maps, including a new Fireteam map; four new maps, for the 2v2 Gunfight mode; and new 6v6 modes and playlists. Raid – a map from Black Ops II – will also be returning.

Moreover, there will be new weapons (which are free), a new Zombies mode, multiple season challenges, and the launch of the Seasonal Prestige system. This system will allow players progress and level up to 1,000, whereas now players are capped at level 100.

Treyarch will also be enabling Double XP and Weapon XP starting 10AM on Dececember 12 until Season One’s launch. Lastly, two free bundles will be available to BOCW players if they log in between December 8 and 15.

These bundles – dubbed the “Field Research” and “Certified” – will both contain one Epic Operator Skin and one Epic Reticle. However, the “Field Research” bundle will also contain an Epic SMG Weapon Blueprint, one Epic Calling Card and one rare Weapon Charm. The “Certified Bundle” will have one Rare Assault Rifle Blueprint and one Epic Weapon Charm.

There will also be quality-of-life updates for BOCW on both December 8 and December 15, as Treyarch prepares for the launch of Season One and Warzone integration.
