Call of Duty just released the first couple minutes of the first campaign mission in Black Ops: Cold War. Although the campaign doesn’t usually excite the fans as much as multiplayer, I personally enjoy playing through the campaign enough to have watched the teaser through numerous times in order to catch every little detail. Here are my thoughts and opinions on the first glimpse of the campaign from Cold War.
Similar Gameplay to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
My first thought when I watched the trailer was that everything sort of looked the same. I was really hoping to see some major changes when it came to how the game looked and felt but it really seemed similar-looking to the previous couple games. This doesn’t bode well for the game. Because the latest Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, is the most beloved game in the series since some of the older Black Ops, players might not want to switch over if Cold War is just going to be more of the same. This is not to say the game itself and the gameplay looked bad in any sense; it just looked the same.
RC-XD rovers are back!
This detail took me a couple times of watching the trailer to discover. For the first time in a while, the fan-favorite RC-XD cars are back in the game. These rovers are small little cars that a player can control and blow up whenever they want. They are really useful in multiplayer and I am super pumped to see them make a return to the series.
Scopes don’t look like Cold War times
This game is supposed to take place during the Cold War. Ergo, the name: Cold War. Why the hell do the guns have the same lasers and high-tech scopes from all the other games? If they are trying to go for an older vibe to the game, I am all for it, but they should at least do their research and have the guns and technology match the time of the game.
This sneak peek was honestly pretty short and did not show much. The game looks good, and I am super excited to see the rovers are back in the game – I cannot wait to start doing some wild tricks with them. But, to be honest, I don’t really know what to think. The trailer wasn’t long enough for me to make a real opinion on how I feel. I will need more information before I make any real judgments. What do you all think? Are you excited for this game or are you going to stick with playing Modern Warfare and save your money?
