Good news for the fans that don’t want to wait for the VALORANT Champions Tour for high-level competition. Complexity Gaming and Nerd Street Gamers partnered up and announced the “Complexity VALORANT Invitational,” which will start January 9th, 2021.
The tournament will feature sixteen North American teams, and twelve of them will participate in the event with invitations. The remaining four teams will be determined by Nerd Street Gamers’ monthly tournaments. All teams will compete with each other for a $10,000 prize pool between the 9th and 10th of January. This seems like it will be the first VALORANT tournament in 2021.
The Complexity Invitational will consist of four different groups in which the top two teams of each will qualify to the playoffs. In the group stage, Winners and Decider matches will be played as best-of-threes, while Opening and Elimination matches are going to be best-of-ones. The playoffs will be held as a Single Elimination bracket and the games will be played as best-of-threes, excluding the grand final, which will be best-of-five. The invited teams are yet to be announced, but the qualifier for the event will take place on December 26-27.
VALORANT’s esports scene is getting stronger every day, and the organizations are seeking opportunities to be involved in this growing arena. “The Complexity VALORANT Invitational powered by Nerd Street Gamers is a unique opportunity for up-and-comers and established professionals to come together in the first VALORANT tournament of the new year.” said Kyle Bautista, Chief Operating Officer at Complexity Gaming. “As VALORANT gains momentum in the esports ecosystem, we’re looking forward to teaming up with Nerd Street Gamers and contributing to the continued growth of the game’s vibrant community of players and fans.”
The Director of Competitive Operations at Nerd Street Gamers, Sean Powell, also shared his thoughts about the partnership: “As we continue our work with the VALORANT community, we are honored to partner with Complexity for the VALORANT tournament of 2021. We strive to provide opportunities for amateur gamers and joining forces with Complexity for the VALORANT qualifier and invitational allows us to accomplish that goal of accessibility.”
NSG doesn’t surprise us with VALORANT occasions anymore since, this isn’t their first time announcing exciting news. The organizer also arranged the qualifier for First Strike: North America and initial Pop Flash tournaments in the past
