G2 Esports to Drop davidp from VALORANT Team

G2 Esports established itself as Europe’s best team after top-of-the-line finishes across six tournaments between July and September 2020. G2 dominated with first place finishes in Vitality Open, WePlay! Invitational, Mandatory Cup, Allied Odyssey, LVL Clash 2, and BLAST Twitch Invitational.

Needless to say, they were the favourites for Riot’s regional championship, First Strike. In a close trio of matches, Team Heretics managed to snatch the victory from G2, pummeling the reigning champions down in dust in the semi-finals.

Following this unprecedented and disappointing performance, G2 Esports will reportedly remove Davidp “davidp” Prins. Earlier sources had suggested the benching of Jacob “pyth” Mourujarvi alongside “davidp,” but that is no longer the case. G2 will be flat-out dropping “davidp.”

The removal might sting G2’s supporters as well as the former CS:GO player, especially after G2’s first real defeat. The organization is reportedly looking for stronger leadership alongside confirmation to move their players to Berlin.

Current G2 Esports roster:

Oscar “mixwell” Canellas

Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski

Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks

Jacob “pyth” Mourujarvi

We’ll have to wait and see what direction this team tries to head in next.
