Team SoloMid have officially signed top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon for the upcoming 2021 League of Legends Championship Series season. The Korean player will be replacing long time TSM player Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik.
Huni started the 2020 Spring Split as a member of Dignitas, before being dropped by the team and picked up by Evil Geniuses in May.
With the signing, Team SoloMid could vie with the likes of Cloud9 and Team Liquid for a 2021 North American title. Although Broken Blade was a strong laner for TSM throughout the year, Huni’s North American residency in 2021 will allow Team SoloMid to pursue international options in the mid lane, as well as for the support.
Although the mid lane and support positions remain a question mark for the North American juggernauts, it’s clear that they’re aiming to support the development of their young jungler, Mingyi “Spica” Lu. The 19-year-old was nothing short of impressive for TSM in 2020, and now with Huni in the top lane and Peter “Doublelift” Peng in the bot lane, Spica will have veteran leadership on all sides of the map to lean on.
With Huni joining TSM, star top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie remains open for the taking. Although many had pegged Licorice to wear black in 2021, it will be Huni donning the TSM jersey as Licorice goes elsewhere.
