IEM Katowice 2021’s Play-In Teams Have Been Revealed

Though the competition scene is just over in CS:GO for 2020, one of the biggest tournaments in 2021’s details have been revealed. The play-in teams of IEM Katowice 2021 have been announced.

Katowice has been the stage of the biggest competition in CS:GO. It witnessed so many unforgettable memories and victories in the past, and now the arena is preparing for the upcoming year. IEM Katowice 2021 will host 24 teams over two weeks, Feb. 16-28.

The tournament will contain two different parts: the play-in stage where the participant teams will compete with each other to qualify for the main stage, and the group stage. Sixteen teams from all over the world are going to take their places in the play-in stage. The attendees of the play-in:

  • Team Liquid
  • Chaos Esports Club
  • Boom Esports
  • Renegades
  • BIG
  • mousesports
  • Gambit Esports
  • Cloud9
  • Team Spirit
  • Illuminar Gaming

These sixteen teams will fight in a double-elimination bracket in which the matches will be played as best-of-threes except the opening matches. At the end of the bracket, eight teams will move on to the group stage and join the directly qualified teams:

  • Heroic
  • Team Vitality
  • Astralis
  • Natus Vincere
  • G2 Esports
  • FaZe Clan
  • FURIA Esports
  • Evil Geniuses

The top 16 teams will put on everything they have on the stage for the glory and the $1 million prize pool. The main stage will consist of two different groups which have eight teams each, and the top-three teams of each group will qualify for playoffs after best-of-threes.
