Let me start by saying that I consider myself a horror genre connoisseur. Movies, games, books, you name it, I can’t get enough. And there are very few pieces of work within the horror genre that still haunt me to this day. One of those is Silent Hill.
Well, wouldn’t ya know it, there is a rumor going around a new Silent Hill game could be in development.
According to speculation whispered throughout the gaming community, several games in the historically bone-chilling franchise are coming into the fray via third-party developers.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Bloober Team said it’s working on “another horror IP” with a “very famous publisher.” By connecting those dots – which is only conjectured at this point – fans believe it could be a new Silent Hill installment.
“(We’ve) been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher,” Bloober Team CEO, Piotr Babieno, told GamesIndustry.biz. “I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.”
Video Game Chronicles (VGC) reported that Konami, who holds the rights to the Silent Hill franchise, has reached out to a “prominent Japanese developer” for a helping hand regarding potential work on a potential resurrection project. This only adds strings to the matrix of which fans have constructed regarding the news.
Unfortunately, any official news won’t be released until summer. Fortunately, it looks like I may get my redemption on a game that took a little piece of my childhood. Get ready, Silent Hill. I’ve got my first-class ticket to town and a chip on my shoulder.
