With the NFL Draft starting this week, FaZe Clan made a draft pick of their own, signing Arizona Cardinal Quarterback Kyler Murray to the organization. Murray took up the gamertag FAZE K1.
The announcement arrived Monday, accompanied with a video of FaZe Banks “interrupting” the NFL draft to announce FaZe’s acquisition of the quarterback.
Murray was the No. 1 pick of the 2019 NFL Draft and signed with the Arizona Cardinals. While he is known for his impressive skills on the field, off the field he is known for his streams, often streaming popular games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty and Madden. His addition to FaZe finds him in the company of other athletes, such as Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben “FaZe Simmo” Simmons and LeBron “FaZe Bronny” James Jr, to join the organization.
In a press release by FaZe on Monday, Banks expressed his excitement for Murray joining FaZe Clan saying, “The friendship with Kyler, myself and all the FaZe members is natural and organic. He’s a perfect fit for FaZe as we continue to lead the cultural collision of traditional sports and gaming.”
“I’ve played video games my whole life,” said Murray in the release. “To be drafted by FaZe and welcomed into the family is a blessing and an honor, and honestly one of the most exciting moments of my life and career so far. I am looking forward to this next chapter and representing FaZe at the highest level.”
FaZe Clan also announced the capsule drop of exclusive merchandise celebrating the commemoration of Murray joining the organization. The merch is set to be released on April 29.
FaZe Clan also announced in the same video that they will be participating in the NFL Draft-a-thon – a yearly fundraiser that “will look to drive awareness and action to close critical gaps at the intersection of pandemic recovery and our hardest hit communities.”
We are excited to see K1 on the field and streaming as a member of FaZe Clan.
