An unexpected roster change occurred earlier this week in CS:GO scene. One of the best players in the game, Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, is leaving G2 Esports, the organization announced through Twitter.

The last part of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 weren’t solid for G2 Esports’ CS:GO, but still no one was expecting the departure of kennyS. The French AWPer had been a part of the team since 2017.

With the removal of kennyS, several role changes have been made in the roster of G2. According to the statement, Audric “JACKZ” Jug will return to the active roster, and Nikola “NiKo” Kovac will be transitioning to a hybrid Rifler/AWP role.

“Kenny is a pillar within G2 and a legend in the scene,” said G2 coach Damien “maLeK” Marcel. “We have shared incredible moments and memories together. We all feel that, though difficult, a new home for him will be a great opportunity to remain at the top.”

We’re in a period that a lot of CS:GO players are making their transitions into Valorant. When the news popped off, some fans thought kennyS could hop on that hype train. However, the 25-year-old player made it clear that he intends to keep playing CS:GO

“I want to start by thanking everyone who has been really positive and supportive with me,” he said. “My motivation remains the same if not slightly stronger, I intend to keep playing CS and find the right place to keep on my journey. I’m grateful for your support, thank you and I love y’all.”

The new home of kennyS is currently unknown, but it’s likely that it will be revealed soon.
