My review of Keanu Reeves’ voice acting in Cyberpunk 2077

Keanu Reeves is a national treasure, everyone knows that. But how did he do stepping into the world of video game voice acting?

When I first heard that he was going to play a main character in the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077, I was beyond excited. I think this was the main problem for me: there was so much hype and I waited so long to see him in the game, I think that I gave myself unrealistic expectations.

In the game, Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand, a gritty, angry man. This is what Keanu does best: he plays a similar style of character in the John Wick movies. I think this was also a main problem for me. Throughout the entire game, I kept feeling like I had seen this all before. I was kind of hoping that Silverhand would show off more of Keanu Reeves’ skills, but instead, he just seemed to keep to what Reeves had already done before. I am not saying this is a bad thing, the character just did not fully live up to my almost-unreasonable expectations.

At the end of the day, Keanu did a great job, and his role in the game absolutely made it better. I think I just wished there could have been more to his acting to show the audience he isn’t just playing the same character he plays in his movies. My final review for his voice acting is a 7/10. He did a good job, but I believe that there were plenty of other voice actors in the game who did a better job and showed that they were more talented in the art of voice acting.
