Although I am a huge Call of Duty fan, the Battlefield series has always kept a special place in my heart. The online maps are huge and, while it’s still a FPS, the gameplay is super different from any other game. If you have only played Call of Duty and have never given this series a chance, I highly recommend you do so. What’s more, you’re in luck: a new Battlefield game, Battlefield 6, is reportedly coming out next holiday season.
A quote by EA explains the situation nicely. “DICE is creating our next Battlefield game with never-before-seen scale,” EA said during the call. “The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver a truly next-gen vision for the franchise. We have hands-on playtesting underway internally.” Moreover, EA confirmed that the next Battlefield game “is set to launch in holiday 2021,” and the studio says it will share “a lot more about the game in the spring.”
The last Battlefield game was Battlefield V, which was released in 2018 on the older generation consoles. I am beyond pumped to see how this new game will play on the brand-new platforms. However, while I’m excited, I honestly do not know how people are going to react to this game. I sometimes feel like I am one of the only people who understand the true value of these games while most are just obsessed with Call of Duty. I hope this time next year, the game and developers get the recognition they deserve.
