On February 25’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast, fans got their very first look at the enhanced PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, relabeled Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. That wasn’t all, however, as the newly upgraded title will include a brand new DLC episode featuring Final Fantasy VII character Yuffie Kisaragi. In light of the approaching June 10 release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and its new expanded content, Square Enix has revealed more details regarding the DLC.

The new DLC content is set in tandem with the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The story focuses on the previously optional playable character from the original Final Fantasy VII (And subsequent Compilation of Final Fantasy VII titles) Yuffie Kisaragi, and her mission alongside the insurgent group Avalanche to steal the ultimate materia from the Shinra Electric Power Company. The DLC episode will purportedly grant a whole new experience within the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga, with new characters, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and new features for the combat system.

Main Characters:

Yuffie Kisaragi

Yuffie is a ninja and materia hunter from Wutai, a formerly powerful nation conquered by the Shinra Electric Power Company after a long and fierce war. Seeking to restore her homeland to its original glory, Yuffie began to hunt for materia, as it was banned in Wutai and is known to possess great power. In her endeavors, she teams up with a faction of the insurgent group, Avalanche, and embarks on a mission to steal the ultimate materia from Shinra. An agile and skilled fighter trained as a member of Wutai’s elite ninja corps, Yuffie thrashes her enemies wielding a four-point shuriken in battle.

Sonon is Yuffie’s new ally in their shared mission to steal the supreme materia from the Shinra Electric Power company. He trained directly under Wutai’s leader and Yuffie’s father, Godo Kisaragi. Having suffered greatly from devastation of war between Wutai and Shinra, Sonon bears a deep grudge against the autocratic enterprise. Wielding a long staff in battle, Sonon acts as a guest party member in combat and can coordinate attacks with Yuffie.

Those who already own a copy of the PlayStation 4 Final Fantasy VII Remake may separately purchase the DLC episode after performing the free PlayStation 5 enhancement upgrade.
