Team Nigma’s position 3 offlaner, MinD_ContRoL, will not be participating in the upcoming ONE Esports Singapore Major after he tested positive for COVID-19. Team Nigma’s current coach, Roman “rmN-” Paley, will be replacing him. Team Nigma made the announcement on Twitter.
According to Team Nigma, Ivan Borislavov “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov had not been feeling well even before the start of their boot camp in Jordan. As a result, the 26-year-old Bulgarian did not join the team for the boot camp.
“Earlier today MC’s test results came back and he tested positive for COVID-19,” Nigma wrote in its statement. The team assured their fans that MC is “doing much better”, but “will not be joining the team in Singapore.”
rmN- is MinD_ContRoL’s replacement for the duration of the Singapore Major. Nigma also said that they will be making “the necessary adjustments.” This most likely points to the fact that rmN-, who is a support player, will have to fill in the capable shoes of the team’s offlaner.
Since Team Nigma has not made any announcements of the shift in the roles of its players, this adjustment most likely means that the team captain, Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi, will be moving to the offlane role given his past experience as a core player.
The announcement comes mere days before the start of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021’s first major. This is one of many instances of teams having to let go of players before the Major as they test positive for COVID-19. The Singapore Major will start on March 27 with 18 teams from six DPC regions competing for $500,000 and 2,700 DPC points.
