On Wednesday, February 17 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s dual personalities Pyra and Mythra will be the newest arrivals to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Much like their role in Xenoblade, Pyra and Mythra will act essentially as a single character with the ability to freely switch between one another, each having their own unique movesets.

Pyra and Mythra will be the newest playable characters from the Xenoblade series after Shulk, having the interesting function of two characters in one. Playing as Pyra, players will be able to power up their Smash moves with fire while Mythra’s movesets will utilize light.

In addition to Pyra and Mythra, Azurda the Titan will also make an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a stage, with several supporting characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 including Nia, Dromarch, Brighid, Zeke, and many more, making an appearance in the backdrop. It is currently unknown whether or not specific supporting characters will influence the battle conditions of the stage.

In addition to the new stage, main character Rex of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, while not appearing as a playable character in Smash, will appear in the Final Smash sequence of Pyra and Mythra.

Pyra and Mythra are currently slated for arrival in March along with the Azurda stage.
