Russian star player Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev had joined the EG Dota 2 squad on Sept. 16, 2019, surprisingly, as a position 3 offlaner in contrast to his usual role of position 1 carry. After a mediocre performance through a couple of series, Ramzes was put on the EG inactive roster on Nov. 6, 2020, given poor performance and travel restrictions due to COVID-19. Following this, he had formed his own team, Just Error, which disbanded after playing one tournament.
Now, he has been released from the Evil Geniuses organization altogether. The announcement came on the official EG Twitter. Ramzes’ last stint with EG was in the OMEGA League where it had a poor fifth-sixth finishing.
In a separate tweet, Razmes mentioned that his leaving was a result of the expiring contract. He thanked the EG staff in the tweet, stating that he looks forward to future opportunities and challenges.
Ramzes has stated multiple times that his goal is to be a good performer at The International. Right now, the only way for him to compete in this year’s TI is if he gets picked by an already qualified team. That’s an unlikely scenario unless some team needs an emergency stand-in or replacement due to unforeseen circumstances. Otherwise, he can compete in the second season of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021.
It’s likely that after Ramzes, EG’s current position 2 player, “Abed” Azel L. Yusop might also move from the team seeing he hasn’t played for them since last March.
