Atlus officially revealed Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster will launch worldwide on May 25, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and, for the first time in the history of the series, on Steam. The game was originally announced at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase on July 20, 2020 in tandem with the next entry into the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei V. The remaster was first released in Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean on October 29, 2020.
The original Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne game was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003, localized in the west simply as Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. This was the first game in the series to receive a localization in the west, rendering a need to change the respective version’s name in order to avoid confusion. The game was a critical success and is acknowledged as a JRPG classic, even notably serving as a foundation to its spin-off series title Persona 5, which also went on to become a smash hit. Now, nearly two decades after its original release, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne returns with enhancements and updates made to fit the modern gaming sphere.
While Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster purportedly does proper justice to its original title, the game’s visuals have been enhanced in HD format. The revival title will also feature character voices and a new “Merciful” difficulty level, which optimizes gameplay for those more interested in playing for the story aspect. The updates and fine tuning made to Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster are expected to provide an enhanced, modern and enjoyable experience of the game for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is set to launch worldwide on May 25, 2021 for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and on Steam. The game will also have a special edition version available for digital copies, known as the Digital Deluxe Version. The Digital Deluxe Version will include the Maniax Pack, featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series, Mercy and Expectation Map Packs, the Shin Megami Tensei BGM Pack, and early-access to start the game four days before it’s official launch. Preorders are currently underway.
