Tactical Talks Samira, LCS Lock In and Goals for 2021 After Dominant Win Over CLG

It’s no secret that Edward “Tactical” Ra is one of the best players to come out of North America in 2020. At just 20 years old, he landed a spot on the most dominant team in North America, filled the shoes of legendary ADC Yilliang “Doublelift” Peng and made a huge splash at Worlds. In his first game of 2021, he scored a decisive win against Counter Logic Gaming, and Stropse caught up with him after the game to chat about the win.

We first talked about the state of Team Liquid after several visa issues regarding top-laner Barney “Alphari” Morris and jungler Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen. While Alphari made it to NA, Santorin was unable to play due to visa issues, leaving Jonathan “Armao” Armao to fill in. Tactical wasn’t phased by the practice and commended his team’s practice, saying, “Even though we had to practice by ourselves…  things were going pretty well I’d say still and practice was not awkward at all. And after Alphari coming in, it was no trouble fitting him into our team. And things were going really smoothly.”

From there, they headed into their first game in which Tactical showcased the Daredevil herself, Samira, by shredding through the enemy carries.

When asked about Samira, Tactical said simply, “She is a newer champion, so not everyone exactly knows how to play against her yet. So does I guess like they’re abusing the idea that she’s not like all champions, like Miss Fortune where everyone knows what she does exactly.”

He also talked about his thoughts on the new LCS Lock In Tournament saying, “I think it’s nice that there’s like a tournament that will let you play games to figure out what the meta might be … before the actual LCS starts.”

Tactical also told us about his goals for the upcoming split following his very impactful rookie split saying, “Personally, I just want to grow as a person and understand myself more. So I think and I think that’ll help me just become a better player.”

For Team Liquid as a whole, he said, the goals are similar: to keep winning and try their best as a team.

We also asked Tactical how he was doing as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the United States.

“[During] the times of isolation… I learned about myself, even though it might have been hard,” he said. “But since the season is starting back up, I want to keep in mind, obviously I want to win, but I need to focus on other parts of my life too. Like just making sure I’m thinking about taking care of myself more and stuff like that.”

He also had a message for fans of Team Liquid, saying, “I just want to say: hope I am not disappointing anyone. I’m sure it sounds weird coming from me, but I just want to do my best and just try to show you how good I can become.”

Tactical and Team Liquid will look to show their continued LCS dominance in their match against 100 Thieves on Sunday. We look forward to seeing what’s to come.
