On the evening of December 4, 2020, Atlus made a cryptic announcement regarding the beloved Phantom Thieves of Heart from Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
This announcement came several hours after an apparent unintentional leak of the trailer of the much anticipated Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, seemingly localized as Persona 5 Strikers. The trailer was taken down minutes after its upload. Considering the themes of mystery and surprise surrounding the Phantom Thieves, it can be assumed that the “accidental” leak was in fact no accident but a decorated approach to finally announcing the status of the Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers highly coveted North American release.
The Phantom Strikers is essentially a crossover between Atlus’ Persona series and Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors. The game takes place six months after the events of Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal and utilizes hack-and-slash RPG gameplay. The game was released February 2020 only in Japan.
News of the subsequent Persona 5 title’s North American distribution was initially reported back in July, however there was no clear release date indicated. Until December 4, Atlus had remained silent on the matter, will evidently reveal more details about the incoming installment on December 8.
