These Video game soundtracks did great on Spotify this year

If you are on social media, you have most likely seen everyone posting playlists of their most-listened songs and artists. Surprisingly, it seems that through this year, more and more people used the service to listen to their favorite tunes from different video games. This year alone, Spotify recorded a 55% global increase  in the music people streamed from their own consoles, so it makes sense that demographic would be listening to more video game soundtracks.

The most-popular video game soundtracks were from games such as Minecraft, Doom and even both the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. A statistic came out that stated the soundtracks for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 increased in popularity by 316%. That is a crazy fact.

It just goes to show how much influence games have in everyday pop culture. Artists should be taking notice and realizing that putting their songs in video games is a perfect opportunity to show their music off to a group of people who may have never heard it before.

Every game has the opportunity to perfectly showcase a song, as video games have room for all types of music, no matter what genre. I predict that in the near future, more and more artists will use video games as a means to show off and popularize their work. I especially see this being the case for underground artists, who may not be as mainstream as they want to be. So, what do you guys think? Do you have any favorite songs that appear in video games? Did you end up finding songs you had never even heard of off your favorite game? The possibilities are endless.
