Top 5 Big Titles to Pick Up at the Playstation Holiday Sale

Sony is at it again. Not only were our minds blown with the release of the PlayStation 5, but Sony supplemented the big launch with a colossal holiday sale via the PlayStation Network. Loaded with some of 2020’s biggest titles and award-winning stories, the sale offers games players have had their eyes on but just haven’t yet purchased. Well fellow gamers, now is your chance to scoop them up at discounted prices without having to leave your gaming chambers or wait for some delivery service to show up later than you’d like.

While the sale has up to 1,400 (!) titles and DLC available for up to 70% off (!!), we plucked five that jumped right off the page upon our investigation. Let’s take a look:

Starting off with a bang we have The Last of Us Part II. Selected as the Game of the Year at The Game Awards – fitting, of course – this hard-hitting, heart-wrenching follow-up to its highly touted predecessor is somewhat of a shock for this sale. It isn’t terribly often that such an outstanding and fairly-new game gets such treatment. But who are we to complain?

The inclusion of MLB The Show is a welcome sign to all fans of the storied franchise. But the real reason it’s a home run is that, for $30, gamers get the MVP Edition. It’s an absolute steal for Show fans that need their baseball fix during the offseason. Grab this one up fast because supreme editions are hard to come by at a price like this.

The force is strong with Sony this holiday season. Another deluxe game that’s getting the discount treatment is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Deluxe Edition. With all the Star Wars craze — due in large part to the success of Mandolorian and the iconic Baby Yoda — the journey by lightsaber light is a can’t-miss deal. What list will you end up on; good or evil?

Somewhat of a hidden gem, the Yakuza Remastered Collection discount is a deal we didn’t know we needed. Our resident Stropse Yakuza erudite gives his stamp of approval on the Yakuza franchise’s holiday discount, and I’m here to give mine, too. This collection of the beat-‘em-up action-adventures makes for a wonderful gift for the gamer in your life — whether it’s you or someone else.

What kind of video game list would this be if it didn’t include one of the greatest franchises of all-time? As a gift from the video game gods, Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition is getting a 50% price slash. One of the most well-received installments of the Final Fantasy empire, grabbing the game is suitable for lifelong players or curious gamers looking for a great MMO with stellar visuals, fluid battle gameplay and memorable storylines.

The Playstation Network holiday sale promotion runs from Tuesday, December 22nd through Tuesday, January 19th. To freshen up the litany of games being offered, Sony will release new deals on January 8th. Games like NBA 2K21 and COD: Black Ops Cold War will also see price cuts so keep on the lookout for those as well.

Of course, these are a minute sample of the huge catalogue of games included in the deal. If you don’t happen to grab anything up before the holidays are over, the deal runs long enough that you can get that Christmas gift excitement deep into the new year. For this, we thank you, Sony
