Top 5 Saddest Deaths in Call of Duty History

Although most people play Call of Duty for the multiplayer and zombies portions of the game, I am one of the few people who really like the campaign. I have played or watched in full every campaign in COD history, and when I tell you there are some sad deaths throughout the years, you best believe me. I am going to go through and point out the saddest deaths that have happened in the campaign portions of these games, so you don’t have to live them for yourself. Let me just wipe a couple tears from my eyes and then we can begin.

No. 5: Alex Mason Death

This one isn’t as sad as it could be as it is an optional death. But the fact that he can die by being shot by his best friend being tricked into doing it is so terrible. I think the better option in this game is to not kill him. If you want to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in full and know how to make decisions that will make sure he does not die, check out this guide.

No. 4: Jackson’s Death

This death took place in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. You are getting picked up in a helicopter after helping one of your squadmates out of certain death. The helicopter gets shot down and crashes and you end up crawling slowly toward the exit trying to get out. You fall out of the wreckage next to the bodies of your squad and somber music starts to play. The screen slowly fades to white as you pass away.

No. 2 and 3: Ghost and Roach’s Deaths

These deaths took place in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. At the end of a mission, Shepard, who has been your ally the entire game, betrays you and shoots you (Roach) point blank in the chest. He then shoots Ghost as he tries to avenge your death. Shepard tossing his cigar to light the bodies on fire is an image I can never get out of my head. Adding to the drama, Price’s voice can be heard on Ghost’s radio warning him not to trust Shepard, but it is too late. This one-two punch of two fan-favorite characters dying is heartbreaking.

No. 1: Soap’s Death

If you are a big fan of Call of Duty, you know that this spot had to go to the death of Soap which took place in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Soap gets hurt badly and Price tries his best to do anything he can do to save him. The music that plays as he passes away will stick in my head forever. Price slowly laying the gun on his chest as he realizes that Soap is gone for good is a theatrical masterpiece. If you haven’t played this campaign, I would highly recommend it.
