Who You Should Watch: The Top Five Best Gaming Youtubers

The world of streamers on Youtube is vast, with a lot of uncharted territory and hidden gems. If you’re looking to get into watching streamers on Youtube, it can be a little bit daunting at first because there are so many options. To help out anyone interested in the world of Youtube streamers, read along to find out my list of the top five best streamers to watch on Youtube.

As a note to anyone already well-versed in Youtuber streamers, you may notice that this list is not explicitly composed of Youtubers with the biggest subscriber bases. This list is made up of my personal choices for top five streamers, so while many of them are very popular to a large crowd, that is not the driving factor behind them being on the list. Although each choice maintains a different motivation, some main factors of my decisionmaking revolve around overall skill at games, a sense of video uniqueness, and a certain gaming style.

5. John Wolfe

Coming in at number five is John Wolfe, who goes by his real name on Youtube. He isn’t a streamer with a super-high subscriber count (he’s at 695K at the time of publication) but he stands out to me as one of the best streamers out there because he occupies such a niche market. He has made a name for himself playing horror games, and he plays them in a way that makes it okay for a scaredy-cat such as myself to watch his videos and not be so terrified I can’t sleep afterwards. He has so much room to grow as a streamer, and if he keeps embracing his niche audience, it’ll be amazing to see how far he goes.

4. Ninja

In fourth place, we have Ninja, also known as Tyler Blevins, who has an impressive 24.2 million subscribers (at the time of publication.) He is on this list because he has so many of the qualities that really make a great Youtube gamer: a moderately-specific field of play, a unique personality that shines through in his gameplay, and pleasant and easy-going videos. With all of these factors combined, it is easy to see why he is one of the best.

3. Mumbo Jumbo

At number three, Mumbo Jumbo, or Oliver (Oli) Brotherhood as he is known in person, makes this top five list because of his commitment to Minecraft. It’s not the only game he has ever played online, but if you visit his Youtube page, it is all you see. He is well known for being part of the Hermitcraft server, and his videos are the perfect blend of being informational and relaxing to watch. His 6.83 million subscribers (at the time of publication) show that his commitment to playing a game and making quality videos really has made him one of the best.

2. Pewdiepie

In second place, PewDiePie, known in real life as Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, is a Swedish Youtuber with a staggering 108 million subscribers (at the time of publication.) No list of best Youtube gamers would be complete without PewDiePie; his online following is actually rather difficult to fathom. I once heard a soundbite online that said you can imagine your followers in terms of picturing that amount of people in a room listening to you every time you speak. For PewDiePie, this room would be a stadium of epic proportions. He is absolutely skilled at the games that he plays, but for me, one of the most notable things about him is how unique his voice is. He is the type of streamer that you would recognize on a radio show even if his name hadn’t been announced. This type of individuality is vital when it comes to being one of the best streamers.

1. Markiplier

Coming in at number one, Markiplier, whose real name is Mark Edward Fischbach, is one of the first Youtubers that I started watching when I got into gaming. Markiplier covers all the bases when it comes to what makes a Youtuber great: he is skilled at the games that he plays, he has something for everyone on his page, he is unique in his demeanor, and he does more than just play games. He is very well known for giving a lot of his earnings to charity and participating in Make-A-Wish Foundation activities. He might not have the most subscribers of all the names on this list, but his fanbase is one of the most loyal groups on Youtube, and it truly is his personality and kind soul that crowns him at the top of my top five personal favorites.

There are so many more amazing gamers to watch, but the creators featured in this top 5 are the ones I watch with the most fervor. If you’re looking for a good place to start, these are all great options. A word to the wise: swearing is present in many of their videos (it’s actually one of the first things I noticed with PewDiePie,) but for the most part, it is not overwhelming. If you have another favorite streamer, I would love to see your opinion shared in the comments. When you’re watching these guys or any of your favorite Youtube streamers, remember: the most important thing is that you enjoy it!
