Valorant Champions Tour Stage 1: Masters 1 has found its first four participants after the end of Challengers 2 semifinals. North America’s No.1 Sentinels, Team Envy, Immortals and, with the surprising performance, XSET got tickets for Masters 1.
Starting on Feb. 20, Challengers 2’s main stage hosted teams with quarterfinals, where the competitors faced each other in best-of-threes. While defeated teams continued their roads in the lower bracket, winning teams proceeded straight to the upper bracket semifinals.
Sentinels began the main event by defeating FaZe Clan 2-0, but the second series wasn’t that easy against Envy. Even though it stole Icebox from Envy, Sentinels was downed to the lower bracket after losing the series 2-1. Lower bracket was quite long compared to the upper one, but Sentinels managed to get the spot by taking wins against 100 Thieves, XSET and Immortals, consecutively.
Team Envy kept its increasing performance in this tournament too. Coming from the open qualifier, Envy allowed nobody to stop them. FNS and his friends took their place in Masters 1 after surpassing XSET and Sentinels.
With the great performance in Challengers 1, Immortals had a spot in Challengers 2’s main stage and didn’t waste this advantage. Although they sweated a little bit against Luminosity, Immortals took over Gen.G 2-0 and Luminosity 2-1.
The fourth team who qualified for Masters 1 was XSET. In the beginning of Valorant Champions Tour, XSET wasn’t seen among the favourite teams since there are plenty of strong teams and only eight spots. However, XSET literally popped off, both in Challengers 1 and Challengers 2. The team lost against Sentinels twice, but still managed to qualify for Masters 1.
The last four spots of Masters 1 will be determined in Challengers 3, which will start on March 4.
