Hear me out fellow gamer friends: this is the day our prayers were heard. RIOT GAMES IS OFFICIALLY MAKING AN MMO.
Okay, I am calm now. Greg Street, the vice president of intellectual property and entertainment at Riot, revealed it on Twitter “casually.”
The tweet, which was sent by Greg Street, has blown up quickly. It got thirty seven thousand likes and nearly ten thousand retweets by the time this article was written.
“I have news.” he said. “My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need! Because it is time. My New job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create. PS We’re hiring.”
Riot’s been focusing on creating new titles lately and it is known by everyone since they announced their plans in 10th Anniversary Events last year. Therefore, the tweet didn’t surprise anyone, but left fans wondering what was coming. The most critical question came just in time: “tell me now… IS IT AN MMO? Will I be able to pick my waifu’s clothes and hairstyle?!”
And Greg Street answered it in the coolest way any announcement can be made: “It is an MMO.” After that time, it was all about celebration, from pro players to famous streamers, everyone showed their hype as replies to this tweet. Even though we don’t have any further details, the announcement is enough to be hyped.
An MMO which is based on League of Legends’ universe has been demanded by the players for a long time. Since the universe has been growing every single year, the game’s lore fits an online role-playing game. However, Riot had prioritized other titles such as VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.
According to public knowledge, Riot Games is working on several games right now, including turn-based RPG game Ruined King. I don’t want to upset you, but it looks like we have to wait a couple of years to have the MMO game, since the company is in the hiring stage at the moment.
